Job Description :

As the Public Relations Manager, your objective is to lead our press, analyst, and brand partnership programs. You will play a pivotal role in shaping and maintaining Payscale's public image, while fostering strong relationships with industry analysts and brand partners like Angel City Football Club.

This position requires a strategic thinker with exceptional communication skills, capable of crafting compelling narratives and managing external relationships.

The ideal candidate will have experience in both public relations and analyst relations, with a deep understanding of the SaaS technology industry.

HR Technology industry experience is a plus!

In this role, you will lead, manage, and execute the vendors and materials necessary to achieve measurable program impact.

Successful candidates will have experience partnering across organizations with program strength both drawing from and contributing to cross-functional work.

Your ability to collaborate and proactively communicate as part of a remote-first work environment is key.

You will be responsible for identifying culturally relevant topics that align with Payscale's product vision, thought leadership pillars, and demand programs to ensure corporate relevance.

Working in partnership with colleagues, your role will be focused on :

  • Strategic program design and operational management that aligns public relations, analyst relations, and brand partnership with our corporate objectives, marketing programs, and campaigns.
  • Ongoing industry research and insights to identify trends and connect our vision to compelling cultural narratives in a way that differentiates us from our competition.
  • Internal collaboration and content creation like press releases, byline, blog, and social posts that align with Payscale's thought leadership pillars and individual thought leader platforms.
  • External relationship and agency management that ensures we attract earned coverage and compel our commercial audience of compensation, rewards, and HR professionals.
  • External communication and crisis management that effectively protects and strengthens Payscale's reputation, while partnering with internal communications teams and spokespeople.

Working as part of the Marketing team, this role will support the organization by contributing to demand and thought leadership programs, supporting operational production, and creating content that aligns with our mission.

The Payscale Marketing Team is made up of three major functions : Corporate Marketing, Growth Marketing, and Product Marketing.

This position is a part of the Corporate Marketing team, which includes the functions brand, communications, content, design, advocacy, and events.

Responsibilities :

  • Strategy : Develop and implement long-term strategies for public relations, analyst relations, and brand partnerships aligning program activities with Payscale's corporate and marketing objectives.
  • Design and execute comprehensive public relations campaigns to enhance the company's visibility and reputation
  • Identify and leverage opportunities for media coverage, analyst engagements, and brand partnerships. Develop and propose opportunities that create value
  • Monitor analyst research and reports to identify trends, insights, and competitive analysis
  • Provide feedback to internal teams based on analyst insights to inform product and strategic planning
  • Content creation, submissions, and strategic communications : Develop and manage the materials necessary to lead effective public, analyst, and brand partner programs ensuring alignment with corporate narrative and positioning.
  • Create compelling content, including press releases, bylined articles, briefing decks, co-branded content, media kits, blog posts, and social media updates.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to generate content that aligns with the company's messaging, goals, and product vision coordinating contribution from stakeholders.
  • Coordinate responses to analyst reports, surveys, and evaluations. Ensure timely and accurate submissions to industry reports and rankings
  • Plan and manage events, sponsorships, and collaborations with brand partners. Plan and execute joint marketing campaigns and initiatives with brand partners.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure seamless integration of partnership activities into marketing programs and campaigns.
  • Relationship management : Build and maintain relationships with media, analyst, partner, and agency contacts.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and manage press interviews in partnership with agency of record
  • Act as the primary liaison between the company and the analyst community. Organize and conduct briefings, inquiry sessions, and advisory events with analysts
  • Nurture brand partnership relationships and monitor the performance to make recommendations for improvements
  • Crisis Management : Develop crisis communication plans in partnership with internal communications function and manage media relations during crisis situations to protect the company's reputation.

Provide training and guidance to company spokespeople on media engagement and crisis communication.

Impact Reporting : Develop systematic reporting processes and cadences to effectively monitor and analyze the performance and ROI of press, analyst, and brand partnership programs.

Provide monthly reporting and consistently identify areas for improvement.

Budget Management : Manage budgets for PR, AR, and brand partnerships, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources to achieve maximum impact.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, journalism, writing, English, literature, marketing, or equivalent on-the-job experience
  • 5+ years of experience in PR / AR program management. B2B SaaS Technology and / or HR Tech experience a plus
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, grounded in strong strategic thinking.
  • Ability to manage and execute concurrent projects to achieve timeline expectations
  • Knowledge of AP style and experience adhering to editorial guideline
  • Experience with Asana or similar project management software, a plus
  • Highly collaborative and resilient bias for action, with a coachable 'can-do' attitud
  • The ability to thrive in ambiguity by partnering with peers to develop creative solutions
  • Willingness to travel up to 6x / year for events, conferences, and meetings.
  • When necessary, the flexibility to work outside of standard office hours to accommodate press and analyst schedules, as well as unanticipated press or industry moments.

Compensation

For roles with compensation ranges :

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary range for this position is $87,900 - $131,900, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses.

This position is also eligible for an annual corporate bonus of 10%. If you are hired at Payscale, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, and / or experience.

In addition to those factors - we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider any internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer.

Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth.
