PURPOSE :
Ensures that buildings and assets of The Micro Shelter are safe and secure for residents and employees by routinely patrolling buildings and grounds and by responding to requests for assistance from building occupants.
Applicants must be willing to submit to fingerprinting for a background check.
Requirements : Responsibilities
Responsibilities
- Conduct perimeter checks (interior & exterior) every hour to ensure premises security.
- Perform bag checks and wand individuals as necessary, maintaining professional boundaries.
- Greet, identify, and assess everyone entering through the gate, ensuring authorization and addressing their needs.
- Remain awake, alert, and highly visible near the main entrance to address security or safety concerns promptly.
- Handle difficult situations with de-escalation techniques and problem- solving skills, fostering a supportive environment for clients.
- Enforce the rules of the shelter firmly but fairly, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
- Maintain detailed documentation of notable incidents and interactions during the shift.
- Uphold punctuality and attendance standards.
- Maintain open communication with all levels of staff.
- Exhibit initiative in performing all duties, demonstrating good judgment and selecting appropriate courses of action.
- Fulfill any other assignments as directed by supervisors to ensure the smooth operation of the shelter.
Requirements
- One or more years' experience working in Security, Law Enforcement, or Corrections.
- Must have experience in effectively interacting with people.
- Must possess excellent communications skills.
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience working with homeless families in a shelter environment.
- Knowledge of domestic violence, mental health, and substance abuse issues.
- De-escalation knowledge / training.
Compensation
The pay for this position is $21.00 / hour.
