Job Summary :
The Office of the First Year Experience was created in 2017 as part of a comprehensive growth plan in Regis College intended to build greater institutional capacity for inclusive excellence, student retention, and student readiness as part of our way of proceeding as a Jesuit liberal arts university.
The First Year Experience (FYE) offers new students a cohesive introduction to our academic culture and Jesuit mission by means of three programs : The Foundational Core (fall and spring first-year seminars);
the First-Year Advising Program; and the First-Year Learning Community.
Working at Regis University
As Regis employees, we embrace our Jesuit Catholic values of respect, inclusion and equity, and welcome employees, faculty and students from all faiths and cultures.
Together, we perform our duties in alignment with the mission of the University and seek dedicated individuals to contribute to and strengthen that mission and our service to students.
Take a moment to consider our Total Rewards package :
- A generous tuition benefit for employees, spouses, and dependents
- Paid Mission leave to give employees time to volunteer in the community
- Options for flexible work
- Additional time off each year when the University closes for Winter Break
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
Applications will be accepted until position is filled.
Major Duties and Responsibilities :
The Academic Program Coordinator supports this work of creating community by offering an operational leadership over the course of incoming students’ first year.
This operational leadership has a significant student-facing dimension because of our programmatic outreach and engagement.
It also has a faculty-facing dimension because we organize faculty advisors teaching in the foundational core. Finally, it involves organizing and collaborating with numerous campus stakeholders who are invested in the success of our first-year students.
The Academic Program Coordinator is a member of an office which includes a Director; an Assistant Professor of Rhetoric and Composition;
an Assistant Professor of Rhetoric and Communication Studies; and a jointly appointed faculty from another department. As such, the Academic Program Coordinator is a key contributor to managing specific projects and offering general operational oversight.
Because the FYE is the first contact faculty and staff have with our new students, the Academic Program Coordinator contributes in crucial ways to creating a campus environment which is both welcoming and engaging, an environment which fosters success for all our incoming students and, in turn catalyzes institutional transformation.
An ideal candidate will bring to this work a demonstrable commitment to strengthening efforts which contribute to the success of traditionally underrepresented and underserved students at Regis.
An ideal candidate will also be ready to engage with the Ignatian tradition which informs our student-centered, holistic approach to transformative education as a Jesuit university.
This is a 12-month, 40 hour per week position. Employee also accrues vacation and sick leave to be used during the 12-month work period.
