  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus three (3) years of experience in general clerical / secretarial experience.
  • Education and or experience will substitute for the minimum qualifications.

The temporary Office Administrative Attendant I is to provide customer service to our patrons and customers by answering questions, taking payments, assisting with questions while working with diverse populations and communities, including interacting with individuals of diverse social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.

Successful applicants must demonstrate strong leadership, exhibit creative thinking, exercise good judgment, and have excellent communication skills.

Travel : If you are selected for this position, and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin , you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties.

Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.

Work Location / Schedule :

  • Variable work schedule, up to 20-30 hours per week.
  • Hours and days vary based on the facility needs and you may be required to work during special events outside the normal hours.
  • Evenings, Weekends, & Holidays may be required.
  • Work schedule and location is subject to change based on department needs and programs.

Experience with cash handling, record keeping and file maintenance.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills :

  • Knowledge of History and / or Art.
  • Ability to fluently communicate (reading, writing, speaking) in English and Spanish.

Ability to travel to more than one location.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following.

  • Greets visitors, handles their inquiries, and directs them to the appropriate person.
  • Answers multi-line telephones, or two-way radios and directs calls or takes messages.
  • Maintains office supply inventories by placing orders.
  • Schedules and coordinates meetings.
  • Distributes, disperses, and reconciles petty cash requests.
  • Types letters, memos, forms and other correspondence.
  • Picks up, sorts and delivers mail to appropriate person.
  • Files and retrieves documents, records and reports.
  • Maintains records, enters data and retrieves data as needed.
  • Analyzes and interprets data and prepares reports.
