We are in search of a dedicated Sr. Accountant to join our team in Nashua, New Hampshire. This role, within the Government industry, will involve the execution of various accounting duties, including the management of grants, reconciliation of general ledger accounts, and the implementation of new accounting standards.
Responsibilities include :
- Assisting with the administration and implementation of new Department of Revenue Administration and Government Accounting Standards.
- Managing the reconciliation of the General Fund adopted budget vs available budget.
- Performing duties related to prospective grants, new accounting entities or procedures, as mandated by local, State Federal laws and / or regulators.
- Conducting audits on payment authorization reports for proper coding and compliance to policies and regulations.
- Assisting with drawing down Federal Grant funds through the funder’s portal.
- Performing various internal compliance functions as directed.
- Collaborating with IT Department staff to address financial software issues within the financial reporting area and providing assistance to solve problems.
- Interacting with all levels of personnel throughout the City to answer questions and resolve problems.
- Assisting with the preparation of audit worksheets and performing analytical accounting procedures for auditors.
- Assisting with the annual budget preparation process and preparing adjustment and closing entries for all funds at fiscal year-end.
- Tracking and analyzing City fuel usage and offering support for all other unit’s workload.
Skills required for this role include Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, General Ledger, Journal Entries, Microsoft Excel, Month End Close, NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, and Lawson.
- Possession of a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Accountant or in a similar role.
- Proficiency in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations.
- Extensive experience with general ledger functions and the month-end / year-end close process.
- Proficient in preparing and posting journal entries.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, and Lawson software.
- Familiarity with government financial regulations and standards.
- Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail.
