ROLE
We are looking for an entry-level Law & Policy Analyst to support the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO), District of Maine (DME).
Your scope of work includes providing a wide variety of technical paralegal services and supporting Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) within the office.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Draft legal documents (e.g., legal memorandums, pleading, discovery, briefs, bankruptcy petitions)
- Help with case management tasks
- Process evidence in various databases (e.g., IPro databases)
- Assist attorneys in trial preparation
- Provide Apprentice examination of legal instruments
- Review legal instruments for completeness and proper execution
- Conduct legal research
- Obtain additional case information
- Determine the correctness of action per Government regulations and procedures
- Research records to ascertain conditions that might preclude action
- Provide assistance and information on legal instruments
- Gather facts for cases and routine reports
- Perform initial review of petitions
- Verify citations and legal references on legal documents
- Read and follow directions
- Export and import data
- Conduct electronic discovery
- Use database software (i.e., IPro, CaseMap, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Suite)
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Knowledge of legal procedures and terminology preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software programs (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
- Proficient in IPro, CaseMap, and QuickBooks
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Detail oriented and multitasker
BACKGROUND
- 1 year of experience in a related field preferred
- Possess integrity, initiative, dependability, and good judgment
- Team-oriented
EDUCATION
- 2-year undergraduate degree equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
