Custodian I -100% -2nd Shift - Downtown Campus

The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Downtown Campus department of Environmental Services is seeking a Custodian to provide a safe, clean and healthy environment for patients, guests, visitors and staff.

University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center Downtown (located at 500 E. Market Street, Iowa City, IA) is a 194-bed hospital that became part of Iowa’s only comprehensive academic health system on Jan. 31, 2024.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities :

• General cleaning
• Trash removal
• Stock supplies for cart and custodial area
• Clean and disinfect restrooms / refill restroom supplies
• Dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, and damp mopping hard surface floors
• Carpet cleaning
• Unit / bed making
• Wall & ceiling washing
• Furniture moves and room setups
• Use various types of custodial equipment in performance of duties
• Other tasks and duties as assigned

This position is performed fully on campus.

Percent of time : 100%

Schedule : 2nd shift 2 : 00pm - 10 : 30pm Monday - Friday

Salary : $16.48 / hour

Minimum Eligibility Requirements :

Ability to read, write, and follow directions

Desirable Qualifications :

• Previous cleaning experience
• Experience working in a healthcare setting and working with the public
• Experience using cleaning equipment
