Welder
Schedule : 6 : 00 AM to 4 : 30 PM w / OT as needed
Temp to Hire
May increase to 12 hour shifts as needed
Onsite Weld Test : Welders must pass 3 Weld Tests (test plates 1"x8"x10") in 2G (Horizontal), 3G (Vertical), 4G (Overhead), using FCAW.
SUMMARY
Position, rework, fit and weld according to written and typed instructions, blueprints, manufacturer's specifications and knowledge of characteristics of metal.
Select equipment and plan layout, fabrication, assembly and welding.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lay out, position, align and fit components together using applicable machines, tools and equipment.
- Bolt, clamp and tack-weld parts to secure them in position for final welding.
- Set up and weld parts using welding equipment.
- Maintain sufficient knowledge of geometry, arithmetic, structural design, heat effects and allowances for thickness of metal to project location of holes, cuts and bends from blueprints, written and typed instructions and manufacturer's specifications.
- Use hand tools and be able to correctly setup and operate applicable shop machines.
- Perform arc and oxy-acetylene welding, cutting and brazing on various ferrous and nonferrous metals, in accordance with established methods and procedures.
- Maintain production documentation per required procedure.
- Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
- Comply with all Company and HSE policies and procedures.
- Able to lift 45 pounds.
- Ability to learn on the job and apply.
- Ability to work with heavy equipment.
- Plans and coordinates daily work with limited supervision.

- Performs other work-related tasks as assigned by the Fabrication Manager, or Supervisor.
- Follows daily work scheduled hours.
- Exposed to loud noise while in the warehouse.
- Exposed to moving parts while on the shop floor.
- Limited (5%) travel required outside of the FM 529 facility.
- Exposed to occasional hot and / or cold weather depending on outside climate conditions and warehouse temperature since the shop floor is neither airconditioned nor heated.
- Able to weld in the following position / type(s) : 1G - 4G (Groove & Fillet).
- Able to weld in the following classifications : TIG & MIG, Flux-Cored, Stick (shielded metal arc (SMAW), gas tungsten arc, and gas metal arc welding).
REQUIRED
- 2+ Years of FCAW Welding experience
- Able to read blueprints
- Maintain sufficient knowledge of geometry, arithmetic, structural design, heat effects and allowances for thickness of metal to project location of holes, cuts and bends from blueprints, written and typed instructions and manufacturer's specifications.
- Work at heights
EDUCATION
High School Diploma OR GED
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Operates both JIB and Overhead Cranes.
- Operates Class IV Forklifts (Hyster 50 - 170).
- Able to read company schematics / blueprints / diagrams / drawings.
- Wears a Fall Protection Harness when performing work at heights.
