The YMCA has partnered with Helping Hands to provide childcare for families at their Bybee Lakes Hope Center, a facility focused on creating access to trauma-informed, data-driven, person-centered homeless services for the Portland Metro Area.
This position will operate out of a small child development center within the facility.
While not required, previous experience working with homeless or low income populations would be considered an asset. Understanding of the issues surrounding homelessness, chemical dependency, domestic violence and sexual assault would also be valuable in building safe and trusting relationships with families.

Job Responsibilities :
A Teacher will work in the program supervising aides and volunteers. Responsibilities include assisting the Lead Teacher or Site Director in maintaining a safe and developmentally appropriate classroom environment, implementing a fun and engaging curriculum, and fostering positive relationships with children, parents, and the community.
Requirements :
- Pass a YMCA Background Check
- 20 credit hours in Education or related field or at least 1 year of experience in a licensed child care / school facility.
- Meet all teacher standards as dictated by the state Child Care Division.
- Current enrollment in the Oregon State Childcare Registry or ability to enroll prior to employment.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
- Current Food Handlers certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
- At least 18 years of age
