Description
Collaborate with faculty to support the operational needs of teaching and research labs in the OEMS department.
Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of lab equipment to ensure all machinery is in good working condition.
Manage the procurement process for lab supplies and equipment, including vendor communication, purchase orders, and inventory management.
Work closely with the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) department to implement and maintain safety protocols and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in all OEMS labs.
Assist in the setup and takedown of lab experiments and equipment as required by faculty and student research projects.
Coordinate with IT and facilities management for any lab infrastructure and technology needs.
Provide training and guidance to students and staff on equipment usage and safety procedures.
Keep detailed records of equipment maintenance, purchases, and safety inspections.
Requirements :
Minimum Bachelor's degree in ocean engineering / marine sciences or related field
Minimum of 0-2 years of relevant work experience required
Computer Skills- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power-point, Visio, Outlook) (Required)
Strong technical background and expertise in ocean engineering and marine sciences
Previous experience in lab management or a related technical leadership role.
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Knowledge of engineering modeling tools, software, and machinery
Technical and hands on experience with lab equipment
Ability to repair small equipment problems
Familiarity with safety protocols and compliance regulations related to lab environments.

Annual Security & Fire Safety Report
The federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) requires colleges and universities, both public and private, participating in federal student aid programs to disclose campus safety information, and imposes certain basic requirements for handling incidents of sexual violence and emergency situations.
Florida Tech’s 2023 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus;
in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Florida Tech; and on public properly within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus.
The numbers provided include crime statistics that were reported to local law enforcement agencies, campus security and other Campus Security Authorities.
The report also includes institutional policy statements regarding campus safety and security measures; descriptions of prevention and awareness programs;
related university procedures and important guidance; and other essential safety information.
