Job Description

Job Position : Database Administrator

Location : Charlotte, NC

Duration : 6+ months

Must Have :

We have a need for a Senior DBA in Charlotte, NC or Jersey City, NJ for our Fortune 50 client! This individual will be responsible for both application and system database administration.

This is a contract opportunity with one of the largest global insurance providers!

Job Responsibilities :

• Support production and non-production databases with Oracle 11g and above, Oracle RAC, and Oracle Golden Gate on UNIX (Solaris and AIX) and Linux OS.
• Maintain standards and design of physical data storage, access, and security administration.
• Perform backup and recovery on Database Management Systems, configure database parameters, and define data repository requirements.
• Optimize database access and allocate / re-allocate database resources for performance and cost efficiency.

Requirements / Required Skills :

• 6+ years of experience with database management systems in design, testing, implementation, maintenance, and administration.
• Experience managing very large databases (1TB or larger) is mandatory.
• Experience with UNIX shell scripting is mandatory.
• Strong SQL skills, including the ability to rewrite complex queries for performance improvement.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work with onshore and offshore teams.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
