POSITION DESCRIPTION
The University of California, Irvine (UCI) Institute for Clinical and Translational Sciences (ICTS) and the School of Medicine announces a national search led by Grant Cooper for the Director of the Master of Science in Biomedical and Translational Science (MS-BATS) program.

The Institute for Clinical and Translational Science, one of 60 CTSAs around the country, has been continuously funded by the NIH since 2010 and has the mission of advancing clinical and translational sciences to drive the next generation of discoveries that will directly impact patient care.
The MS-BATS program, created in 2012, has successfully trained translational scientists and industry leaders to conduct clinical research that translates biomedical discoveries into clinical practice.
The new director will be expected to continue this tradition by leading and growing an education and training program that will develop the next generation of leaders.
This program involves a mixture of asynchronous and synchronous learning activities and focused research development activities designed to accommodate faculty, medical students, residents, and working professionals.
The director will also have direct input into advancing a faculty development pipeline from the diverse undergraduates, medical students, and residents at UC Irvine in addition to providing educational opportunities for those interested in matriculating in the program who are not currently part of other UC Irvine programs.
The overall goal is to develop the next generation of NIH-funded translational scientists or industry leaders who are armed with a unique set of interdisciplinary skills that they acquired through the program.
Our search will identify outstanding candidates with administrative and academic leadership and interdisciplinary training experience.
Candidates should be distinguished scholars and translational scientists, and forward-thinking leaders who have a vision for developing the next generation of translational-scientist leaders.
Candidates would be expected to have a distinguished record of achievement in research, a strong track record of mentorship, experience in developing educational programs, experience in administration, and a track record in team science.

Eligibility :
- An MD, DO, PhD, or MD / PhD (or equivalent).
- Be eligible for appointment as an associate or full professor.
- Demonstrated record of scholarly productivity, significant history of independent NIH funding, and involvement in academic societies at a national level.
- Experience in developing transdisciplinary education programs.
- History of mentoring candidates to obtain NIH career development awards.
- Proven track-record of high-quality translational science and clinically relevant research.
- Proven ability to work in a collaborative environment with other units involved in clinical research.
This position is being recruited in the following faculty titles, designation into the following title series will be dependent upon qualifications : Tenured Professor of Line series.
Criteria for the Ladder Rank Series :
Ladder-Rank Faculty will serve as research scholars, clinicians, and educators. They are expected to design and lead significant, thematic research with extramural support.
Teaching is required and may include clinical, classroom or lab teaching. Faculty will also take part in campus and professional service.
Salary range :
The base salary range for the rank position is $135,044 to $486,546.00. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and / or step at appointment.

This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
