OVERVIEW
Alo is seeking a real estate attorney to provide support on a wide range of day-to-day legal issues including the drafting and negotiation of purchase and sale agreements, leases, financing documents, joint venture agreements, construction agreements and other commercial and real estate-related contracts.
This attorney will be involved in every aspect of a real estate transaction. This position is a great opportunity for an individual interested in working on a broad array of legal issues in a fast-paced, growing company.
This is a hybrid role based in the Los Angeles area and the attorney will be expected to come into the office a minimum of three days per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Purchase And Sale Agreements : Draft and negotiate purchase and sale agreements on behalf of buyer or seller, review title, survey and other due diligence, draft closing documents and other real estate-related documents such as easements and CC&Rs.
- Leasing : Draft and negotiate retail and industrial leases on behalf of landlord or tenant, review workletters, draft and negotiate AIA construction and design professional agreements, manage lease administration issues, and draft and negotiate other lease-related documentation, such as subleases, license agreements, tenant estoppel certificates and SDNAs.
- Other Contract Drafting and Negotiation : Draft, negotiate and see through execution a wide variety of other real estate, financing and commercial contracts.
Work directly with various business teams in real estate, finance and construction. Work closely with legal support staff to ensure all contracts are properly executed and stored.
- International Operations : Collaborate with relevant business teams and foreign outside counsel to manage growing pipeline of international real estate assets.
- Other : Enthusiastically pitch in on other Legal department projects and tasks. Continually develop new expertise as the business grows and proactively tackle new subject matters as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- J.D. from a top tier law school and strong academic credentials.
- Admission to the California bar.
- Three to five years real estate experience in big firm and / or in-house.
- Prior experience with retail and corporate finance is a plus.
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
- Outstanding analytical and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Self-starter with ability to balance many projects simultaneously and complete tasks accurately, on schedule and with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to accommodate tight deadlines.
- Sensitivity to and practical knowledge of working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and ability to explain legal requirements and concerns in layman’s terms.
- Willingness to take initiative.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
The base salary range for this position is $175,000-$225,000 per year which represents the current range for the base salary for this exempt position.
Please note that actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
As such, on occasion and when applicable, there is the possibility that the final, agreed-upon base salary may be outside of the upper end of the range.
