Job Description
The Director, Purchased Services leads sourcing strategies of all clinical and non-clinical purchased service categories and technology.
The Director is responsible for providing management and development of purchased services programs which includes a streamlined sourcing framework, supplier negotiations, analytics, contract execution and value realization.
Reporting to the Vice President of Supply Chain, Children’s top supply chain executive, the Director works collaboratively with Children’s key stakeholders, facilities and staff including executive team, clinicians, technology team and facilities management, as applicable.
Job Responsibilities
Manage the Purchased Services contract portfolio to include but not limited to clinical and non-clinical services, technology, and other non-labor expense categories.
Effectively manage projects from beginning to end, translate objectives, execute outcomes, and present project deliverables to local and system managers, directors, and executives.
Design and manage the sourcing and contract management framework for all categories in the Purchased Services portfolio including new requests and renewals.
Develop and deploy an industry-leading Purchased Services playbook focused on Analytics, Strategy and requirements development, supplier negotiations, performance-based contract negotiation and value realization through structured business reviews.
Manage strategic supplier engagement and expand optimization efforts through development of high-performance contracts through integration of key performance indicators (KPIs) and structure business review process.
Collaborate with stakeholders including Clinical / Non-Clinical leaders, physicians, and others to define category specifications and acceptable service levels;
work closely with leaders and key stakeholders to project category purchases and develop strategies to maintain and maximize spend management opportunities and timelines.
Achieve stakeholder support and collaboration through participation in cross-functional teams, engagement in conversations that expose core business and service objectives and sharing best practices for comprehensive success.
Coach and mentor high-performing teams, enabling maximum achievement. Champion ongoing training, exceptional resources and clear performance objectives that support effective bidding and negotiation strategies as well as optimal contract structure and finalization and ease of purchase.
Encourage and develop individual talent and ambition, targeting individuals for growth opportunities. Inspire and insist upon consistent, transparent, ethical practices from all team members in all situations.
Engage with leaders across the enterprise in Capital Planning, Budgeting and execution including development of sourcing and contracting strategies.
Establish stretch performance goals and develop actionable plans to accomplish them.
Network with peers in similar organizations (i.e. CHCA member hospitals); strategize with counterparts on common opportunities (i.
e. volume purchase opportunities) and challenges (i.e. best practice solutions).
Candidate Requirements
We are seeking candidates with the following experience and qualifications.
Experience
At least seven (7) years of progressively leadership experience in healthcare.
Proven experience with complex supplier contract negotiation, systems integration, and medical and product equipment knowledge.
At least eight (8) years of supply chain management experience in multi-site healthcare or comparable industry is preferred.
More than three (3) years leading a strategic sourcing / procurement organization in Sr. Manager or Director level is preferred.
Demonstrated experience in Purchased Services, project management, Commercial Contracting, finance within healthcare or other industries.
Workday Supply Change experience is strongly preferred.
Education and Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, supply chain management, or related field is required. A master's degree is preferred.
Professional certification in procurement discipline (i.e. CMRP, PMP, CPM, and APICS) is preferred.

Thorough knowledge and experience of process analysis, strategy development, policies and procedures, large scale change management and organizational development functions.
Demonstrated ability to build and lead collaborative, cross-functional project teams.
Demonstrates advanced management skills required to lead department, including management of staff performance and development, team building and communications, resolution of issues and conflicts, review, and approval of work, and hiring and training employees.
