To provide vision, oversight, and coordination for all WINGS Safe House (shelter) operations, services, and Crisis Line functions for this 24- hour facility
Key Responsibilities :
- Oversee, plan, implement and evaluate all components of the 24-hour Family Advocate services. Ensure that services are proactive, responsive, and comprehensive.
- Hire, supervise, and train staff, interns, and volunteers; Conduct team meetings; Encourage on-going Development.
- Develop, implement, and monitor operational procedures in cooperation with Senior Director of Administration.
- Develop, implement, monitor program policies and procedures in cooperation with Senior Director of Program Services.
- Oversee the teaching, modeling, and the development of life skills and support to women and children as it applies to House Advocates, volunteers, and interns.
- Oversee integration of strengths-based perspective and life coach model.
- Monitor and maintain a safe and healthy living environment for all WINGS guests, staff, interns, and volunteers.
- Identify volunteer opportunities and communicate them to the Department of Community Resources; Cultivate and maintain long term volunteer relationships.
- Provide crisis intervention counseling and referrals to callers; Conduct periodic assessments of Crisis Line services; Responsible for coordinating the hotline schedule.
- Provide supervision for ICDVP candidates.
- As directed, provide supervision for the 40-hour training and CEU.
- Conduct phone intake and eligibility evaluations; Oversee resident arrivals and departures.
- Inform callers (i.e., Chicago Domestic Violence Helpline) of the numbers of beds available at the Safe House.
- Provide clinical intervention and support, which includes on-call emergencies.
- Create and maintain files, documents, contracts, and agreements per Senior Director of Program Services.
- Collaborate with area agencies to identify and institute best practices.
- Work closely with Senior Managers to ensure wrap-around services.
- Work with Development staff to establish indicators and outcomes measures and ensure accurate data collection and reporting;
ensure timely submission of all reports.
- Contribute necessary financial information to the Chief Program Officer.
- Represent WINGS at community meetings and events.
- Provides direct services in the form of support groups, case management, crisis intervention, emotional support, and conflict resolution.
- Immediately report child abuse to the Department of Children and Family Services as mandated by law and in accordance with agency procedures.
- Identify donation needs and inventory levels and communicate needs to Department of Community Resources.
- Oversee facility property management issues and work with Facilities Department to maintain agency assets.
- Work with Friends of Safe House Friends Advisory Committee.
- Other duties as assigned by Chief Program Officer.
Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Must hold Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional (ICDVP) Credential or obtain certification within one (1) year of hire
- CPR and First Aid certification (WINGS will provide)
- Experience with shelter services preferred
- Must agree to a flexible schedule evenings, weekends, holiday, on call and overnights required
- Must have excellent leadership, project management, interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
- Must be a strong team player, able to successfully interface with varied personalities and temperaments, and relate sensitively to people of varied social, economic, racial, cultural, and experiential backgrounds
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Bilingual skills (Spanish) preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Access, and Excel
