Cambridge Rindge & Latin School is a comprehensive high school divided into four Learning Communities designed to promote high levels of learning and achievement for all students.

Honors courses are offered in all core classes (English, History, Mathematics, and Science); Advanced Placement (AP) courses are available to qualified students in grades 11 and 12.

Health, Physical Education, and Wellness Department Overview :

Cambridge Public School's Health, Physical Education and Wellness Department is dedicated to creating supportive learning spaces where all students are known, celebrated, empowered, and thrive.

Students will receive relevant learning opportunities that develop the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to be healthy and physically active.

These experiences will support students to be engaged in exploring, creating, and advocating for meaningful changes at the individual and societal level.

We also recognize that certain groups have been historically marginalized, resulting in significant health and educational disparities.

Upon completion of our program, students will develop competence in a variety of skills, which include motor skill development, self-efficacy, advocacy, and empowerment to take control of their health and engage in lifelong efforts to maintain and enhance their individual and community health and wellness.

The Role :

The Cambridge Rindge and Latin School, in partnership with the Health and Physical Education department, seeks a Health Education Teacher for the 24-25 School Year.

The teacher will report directly to the Coordinator of Health, Physical Education and Wellness and to the principal of the school or small learning community administrator to which she is assigned, as well as to the CRLS PE / Health Lead Teacher.

It is the responsibility of all Health Teachers to teach Health education according to the Massachusetts Health Curriculum Framework.

Your Skill Set :

As the incoming Health Education Teacher, you will possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following characteristics and qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience and / or education in : health education and teaching human sexuality.
  • Successful teaching experience in an urban setting is preferred.
  • Required Massachusetts Certification in K-12 Health Education and Family / Consumer Sciences.
  • Experience leading instruction in multicultural and urban community settings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, alongside the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with a diverse staff and student body.
