Founded in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood in 1972 by community residents, Bowdoin Street Health Center remains focused on providing outstanding, linguistically appropriate, and culturally sensitive medical care while maintaining a tradition of working with residents to identify and meet their unique health needs.

We are accredited by The Joint Commission and certified as a NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Home Level III.
This role is an employment model position in the Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Inc. (HMFP).
Primary Responsibilities :
The Medical Director is responsible for the overall service delivery, clinical quality, professional leadership and direction of the clinical staff at the health center.
As a visible leader in the community, the Medical Director will work to address social inequities and injustice, champion innovation and meet the academic mission of research and education of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Oversee and provide direct patient care during regular business hours, some evenings and weekends.
Establish clinician schedules for clinical sessions and administrative time.
Establish and ensure targets for clinical capacity and utilization are met and the financial success of the medical program is achieved.
Ensure clinical outcomes are improved through evidence-based strategies and innovative care approaches.
Lead development and implementation of the health center’s Quality Improvement Program, including Patient Centered Medical Home.
Identify collaborative opportunities for the health center for onsite specialty services, clinical training, community-based participatory research and other clinical programs, services and initiatives.
Leadership and participation in regulatory audits, implementation and monitoring of corrective actions.
Requirements :
Experience in a community health setting or public health setting will be most desirable.
Demonstrated skills in staff management, supervision, teaching and instruction skills, and organizational development.
At least 5 years of clinical experience and 3 years of progressive medical leadership and management experience.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle and prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands and seek supervisory assistance as appropriate.
Education :
Must have successfully completed medical training at a four (4) year, accredited Medical School and received an M.D. or D.O. degree.
Successful completion of a residency program
Licensure / Certification :
Must possess a valid medical license
Must be licensed to practice Medicine in Massachusetts
Must be Board-Certified or Board-Eligible
Demonstrated ability to use medical record systems to thoroughly and properly document patient visits.
