IT Systems Engineer

The Group’s efforts include developing software architectures and systems, bioinformatics tools, and AI algorithms to further the nation’s efforts in chemical and biological defense, biosecurity, public and global health and warfighter performance.
The Bioanalytics Systems & Technologies Group is seeking an IT System Engineer to support systems & application administration, AWS infrastructure engineering, cyber security operations and program support.
They will support the research group's AWS deployed platforms, including end-user support, end user devices, Linux systems, on-premise / cloud enterprise infrastructure and operational support of AWS deployed platform / servers.
They will assist with CI / CD pipelines, configuration management, and security vulnerability remediation. The position requires technical depth in Operating Systems (OS) (Linux Windows, Mac), hardware, networks, and IT security best practices as well as a high degree of troubleshooting skills to quickly diagnose and resolve issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related scientific or technical discipline.
- 3+ years IT and Linux Administration - Experience and knowledge required to manage, monitor, troubleshoot and maintain / design highly available solutions in an enterprise Linux environment.
- Working knowledge of AWS
- IT Security - vulnerability remediation, network design, logging. Develop and implementation of Data Security Plans for unique and system and operating requirements outside established security policy
- Strong skills and experience in IP Networking, including LAN, WAN, and a solid understanding of VLANs and firewalls.
- Ability to work analytically in a problem-solving environment.
- Ability to respond quickly and professionally to all types of users and all type of user requests, always with a positive attitude and demeanor.
- Ability to be work well independently, and at the same time be able to work well in a team environment
