Position Summary : The Policy Analyst, Technology Policy supports our policy development and strategy related to current and emerging health care technology, standards adoption, data interoperability, privacy, and cybersecurity.

This includes analysis of and response to state and federal legislation and regulation as well as standards impacting the health insurance provider industry, to support AHIP and its member organizations.

This position requires work performed on-site in our Washington, D.C. office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports AHIP policy development impacting current and emerging health care technology, data interoperability, privacy and cybersecurity legislation, regulations, and sub-regulatory guidance.
  • Gathers member input through written communications, conference calls, and in-person meetings. Synthesizes diverse member feedback to develop consensus positions.
  • Develops and drafts AHIP’s policy positions and achieves member consensus on legislative, regulatory, state and federal policy and guidance proposals.
  • Works with AHIP members to support the analysis and adoption of technology and standards as well as implementation of laws, regulations, and other guidance pertaining to technology, data interoperability, privacy and security.
  • Drafts and otherwise supports member-facing products such as issue briefs and educational materials.
  • Supports contacts with staff at federal regulatory agencies, coalitions, standards development organizations and member health plans.
  • Works collaboratively across other AHIP departments on projects of mutual interest.
  • Performs other tasks as required or assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree and / or equivalent experience.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working on policy development on issues impacting current and emerging health care technology, privacy, cybersecurity, and technology standards adoption, including conducting in-depth research or analysis of legislative and regulatory proposals relating to health care insurance and managed care.

  • Understanding of health insurance and health reform issues, legislative and regulatory processes, health plan operations, laws, and regulations relating to health insurance and managed care.

On-Site Requirements

This position requires work performed on-site in our Washington, D.C. office.

Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 : 30 a.m. to 5 : 30 p.m.
