GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK :

The Data Analyst will leverage Business Intelligence and Data Analytic best practices to deliver relevant, timely and insightful information to help monitor route performance and to inform service planning and scheduling.
This includes gathering, summarizing, and preparing data for geospatial and statistical analysis, data modeling, end user education and training, understanding, and assisting in the development of reporting, analysis and visualization of business data, metrics, and measures.
Essential Functions
- Maintains specific methods and procedures to monitor and evaluate transit service performance, ensuring compliance with VIA’s policies and standards.
- Maintains standard reports and statistics.
- Develops detailed analysis and documentation from multiple data sources to facilitate informed decision making.
- Prepares and distributes reports at regular intervals.
- Collaborates regularly with departments and consultants to ensure data integrity.
- Reports transit statistics required of federal funding recipients into a national database.
- This job description excludes marginal functions that are incidental to performing the job. Other duties may exist.
Education And Experience
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree, a minimum of 12 credit hours in math or statistics, and a minimum of 1 year work experience in various statistical analysis, business intelligence, reporting, or working in a similar role or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Requirements
- Must have basics of relational database or structured query language (SQL).
- Must have a customer focused manner, with respect for procedures, policies, and legal requirements.
- Must have relevant knowledge of statistical analysis software such as Excel, Crystal Reports, SPSS, SAS, or R.
- Preferred to have relevant experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Must be able to successfully interact with users at all levels of the organization.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and write reports.
- Must be able to read and understand complex materials.
- Must be able to maintain good work attendance.

Physical Requirements
Physical ability required to be mobile, bend, stoop, stand, reach, and occasionally lift objects weighing 5-25 pounds such as files, supplies and large reference books.
Work Environment
- Works in a normal office environment but may require working on a bus or outside.
- Work involves deadlines and multiple priorities.
- Work may require off-site travel.
- Flexible hybrid schedule is available.
