ROLE OVERVIEW :
Alameda Health System is hiring! The New GradRN Program gives an opportunity for recent graduates that haveobtained their CA RN License, under close supervision, to providenursing care to patients, including medications and treatment.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOBFUNCTIONS :
The following are theduties performed by employees in this classification. However,employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level.
Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individualin the classification.
- Accompanies, assists,and represents the needs of patients to other providers.
- Accurately provide care with respect tomedication administration, skin and wound care, ADL's and otheressential patient care related activities.
- Develops, implements, evaluates and makes modifications in thenursing care plan; prepares required records and reports.
- Gathers and assess information aboutpatients to meet nursing needs; assists and consults with physicianin the performance of procedures and diagnostic tests;
contractsphysicians and / or other departments to obtain or provide patientinformation.
May provide oversight to staffwho monitor telemetry systems; alerts primary nurse of changes inunderlying rhythms and of any life threatening arrhythmias that maydevelop;
interprets and posts telemetry strips at the hoursspecified; admits and discharges patients with telemetry units asappropriate.
- Participates in promoting ahealthful, safe, and therapeutic environment for patient andfamilies; set up and controls the environment essential forinfection control.
- Participates in theimplementation of patient care standards, infection controlstandards and quality assurance criteria;
assist with conductingstudies; participates in unit and other meetings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education : Graduate of anaccredited nursing program required; Bachelor's degree in Nursingpreferred.
RequiredLicenses / Certifications : BLS - Basic LifeSupport Certification issued by the American Heart Association.
PreferredLicenses / Certification : ACLS - Advanced CardiacLife Support Certification - issued by AHA -American HeartAssociation, may be required per facility or unit / departmentspecialty according to patient care policies.
RequiredLicenses / Certifications : CPI - CrisisPrevention Intervention Training (Required for all positions in theEmergency Department - training to be provided by the Facility.)
RequiredLicenses / Certifications : PALS - PediatricAdvanced Life Support Certification- AHA American Heart Association(Required for Emergency Department or if overseeing or providingpediatric care on a regular basis - to be obtained within 6 monthsof hire).
RequiredLicenses / Certifications : Valid license topractice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
