Position Summary
Austin Peay State University seeks an enthusiastic, innovative, and collaborative team member for the Scholarly Engagement Librarian.
This is 12-month, tenure track position reporting to the Director of Library Services at the rank of Assistant Professor.
The Scholarly Engagement Librarian will develop, coordinate, and promote access to scholarly resources with an emphasis on education, outreach, and advocacy.
The incumbent will also support and advance the library’s mission by participating in the information literacy program, providing in-person and virtual research assistance, and serving as a subject librarian to assigned academic departments.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Create a vision to promote scholarly engagement.
- Provide training and support to faculty, students, and staff on intellectual property, copyright, fair use, open access, open education, and scholarly publishing.
- Advance and promote the use of ASPIRE, APSU’s institutional repository, as well as other scholarly interdisciplinary communication tools provided by the library.
- Monitor the scholarly communication landscape, including funding and publishing trends, to keep colleagues informed. Collaboratively develops and supports curricular and co-curricular programming in the area of research and creative activities.
- Establish and maintain effective communication across the APSU community.
- Seek funding opportunities.
- Collaborate with colleagues across all disciplines to promote scholarly engagement.
- Complete scholarly / creative projects and professional service required of faculty for tenure and promotion.
- Perform other duties as required.

Physical Requirements
Light Work : Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and / or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- ALA-accredited master’s degree (or international equivalent) in Library or Information Science.
- A minimum of two (2) years of professional library experience;
- Experience with the provision of research services and library instruction.
- Strong commitment to and knowledge of current trends and issues in research assistance, library instruction, and librarianship.
- Effective interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a rapidly changing, multifaceted service environment.
- Commitment to the promotion of a culture of outstanding public service in a learner-centered library environment.
- Evidence of professional initiative and flexibility.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- Experience with academic library operations and procedures.
- Experience with collection development in an academic library.
- Strong service commitment to working with students, faculty, staff, and other communities.
- Understanding of the scholarly information process, including the emerging areas and trends in scholarly communications, student success and engagement, and the functions of an institutional repository.
- Familiarity with intellectual property, copyright, and fair use; and commitment to fostering an equitable and inclusive workplace with an ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
