Description
Pay Range : $16.50-$19.00 per hour
Under the Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, and Store Supervisor supervision, the Lead Cashier performs the following duties :
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise cashiers, run breaks, handle returns, cashier, make change and ensure smooth running operations
- Face products at the front of the store and helping other departments when needed
- Fill open shifts as needed by cross training, working department yourself and / or calling in staff to help
- Utilizes great judgement in customer and employee situations and handles them in a calm and professional manner
- Process returns in a courteous and professional manner
- Provides excellent customer service and is an example to cashiers of what should be expected
- Bags groceries being sensitive to the needs of customers
- Keep register station and computer clean, dry and free of dust
- Stock and face product, checking prices on existing and new stock for consistency with shelf labels, and marking shelf labels with blue chips if inconsistencies are found
- Maintain awareness of safety and security
- Sweep, put away go backs, walk the store for cleanliness, count, and pull-in / lock carts
- Assist other employees as needed
QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES
Any combination equivalent to, but not limited to the following :
Training / Education :
Minimum of High School Diploma or G.E.D. certificate
Experience :
- Must have prior experience being a cashier
- Excellent Math Skills
Knowledge of :
- Verbal proficiency of the English language, and be able to read and write at an advanced level
- Leading a team
Ability to :
- Model excellent customer service and hold the staff accountable for doing the same
- Be able and prepared to cover breaks for other employees
- Remain calm under pressure
- Treat customers with respect in a warm and friendly manner
- Read, comprehend and relate product knowledge to customers in an understandable manner
- Work in an accurate manner in a fast paced environment
- Assist customers promptly; take special requests / special orders, communicate to leadership
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions :
- Lift grocery, bulk, produce items up to 50lbs. 100 times per day 6-12 inches
- Carry from cart or dolly to shelves, typically less than 3 ft.
- Push / Pull carts and dolly, electric pallet jack
Special Requirements :
- Must be able to work various shifts as needed, including nights and weekends
