We have a thriving AEC practice with a close-knit, team-oriented group that is growing rapidly. Due to our success, we need an Asbestos Technician to assist with the delivery of our current extensive backlog of work.

This backlog includes tasks associated with construction and capital improvement projects for MTA agencies including New York City Transit and various infrastructure improvement projects for New York government agencies such as NYCHA and DASNY.

STV Title Environmental Scientist

This role emphasizes mold assessment and lead-based paint inspections, mold, and lead abatement monitoring, and abatement report writing, document review with the ability to develop both professionally and personally.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated with a solid technical foundation allowing them to work independently. STV’s culture promotes exposure to and interaction with multiple design disciplines within a healthy work-life balance.

The successful candidate will have 0-2 years of mold assessment and lead-based paint inspection experience. Relevant experience includes :

• Mold assessment and abatement oversight.
• Lead based paint XRF inspections and abatement monitoring.
• Report preparation.

In addition, the candidate should possess a strong technical inclination, be self-motivated to take ownership of challenging problems, and possess excellent written & verbal communications skills.

Responsibilities :

• Schedule filed inspections.
• Review and manage data results from the field.
• Manage, and periodically perform, mold assessments and lead inspections.
• Interact with engineers, architects, property managers, and lead abatement contractors.
• Prepare reports.
• Flexible and able to be on-call for night work and weekend work.
• Periodic site visits.
• Review mold O&M plans and other documents.
• Review lead-based paint XRF reports and abatement reports.

Qualifications :

• 0-2 years of relevant mold assessment and lead-based paint inspections, design, monitoring project management experience with knowledge of NYC regulations, NYS regulations, HUD guidelines.
• NYCHA experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant study.
• NYSDOL Mold Assessor required.
• USEPA Lead Risk Assessor required.
• Demonstrates excellence and efficiency in project management, writing, communication, data analysis, professional judgement, and knowledge of regulations.
• Strong quality assurance / quality control skills to perform technical, style, and consistency reviews.
• Self-sufficient, self-motivated, and ability to work under pressure of deadlines is essential.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytics and organizational capabilities.
• New York State driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications :

New York City and State agency experience is a plus.
