Role Overview
The Sr. Manager, National Programming will lead strategic and critical functions of Diageo’s National Shopper Marketing Team.
This role is part of the Diageo team that leads national shopper marketing programs, spanning our full portfolio of spirits brands.
As a team we develop and implement big, scalable insight driven programs that are implemented across Strategic Account and independent retail customers and the full path to purchase.
Given shifts in shopping behaviors and the acceleration of digital TBA shopping channels and tactics in recent years, as well as anticipating the future of technology (AI, other), these programs scale beyond brick-and-mortar stores to tactics such as social and digital conversion media, experiential, augmented reality, and more.
A priority function of this role is identifying new-to-world, white space ideas that work for our portfolio. The ideas must be lead by category insights and macro cultural trends.
Pulling the idea through omnichannel activations that drive conversion along the path-to-purchase is a must.
This role is crucial to rounding out the capabilities and deliverables of the National Shopper Marketing Team. This role will define / benchmark Key Performance Indicators and objectives, collaborate and partner with cross-functional teams as we embark on new ways to engage the shopper, implement program tactics, and conduct post-program performance analysis.
This role reports into and provides critical input to the Director of Shopper Marketing.
Complexity of Role
This role requires someone who can juggle numerous projects at one time and is able to flex their style based on stakeholder interaction.
There must be an understanding of data and insights and a preexisting knowledge of key National Strategic Account customers and shoppers.
Clear communication is essential as is strong project management. While this role does not have any direct reports, the ability to lead and influence cross-functional decision makers is critical.
Candidate Qualifications
- A true linchpin between how we go to market and validating the associated performance
- Strong commercial acumen and an ability to anticipate and deliver on commercial needs
- Proven track record in Key Performance Indicators / objective identification and validation
- Post-program performance capabilities (functional knowledge in Nielsen, IRI a plus)
- Influential : Able to articulate and back a recommendation to lead and influence peers, line manager, and (at times) leadership
- Acts as an owner : A self-starter who leads by doing
- Curious about the big picture, pays attention to trends, and develops new thinking
- Nimble, able to multi-task and move at pace
- Eager and excited to handle the complex 3-tier system with innovative and compliant recommendations that challenge the status quo
- Passionate about brands, shoppers, retailers and most importantly, collaborating with others
Candidate Experience
7+ years of CPG and / or corporate retail experience (Total Beverage Alcohol a plus). Shopper marketing, digital marketing, and / or data analytics experience.
