Position : Lead Teacher
Supervisor : Director
Education : Assoc. Degree / Bachelors Degree ECE, or any degree and completed Early Childhood Credential and coursework in ECE.
Job Summary : Instructing children in activities designed to promote social, physical and intellectual growth. Working together with staff members to give each child quality care, education, and exploration of themselves, their environment and others.
Experience : Minimum of one year experience in a child care center
Qualifications :

- Work well with others.
- Ability to work well with continually changing situations, public and co-workers.
- Ability to complete required paperwork.
Work Schedule : 35 - 40 hours per week

Responsibilities :
Planning the environment :
- Maintain bulletin boards.
- Label cots / mats, maintain a cot / mat list and properly store cots / mat.
- Arrival on time for scheduled hours.
- Gather materials needed based on the lesson plan.
- Decorate the walls based on the interest of the children.
- Rotate toys and materials to keep children interested and engaged in activities.
- Keep the Administrator or Director informed of material needs and classroom situations.
- Understand and fulfill the NC Child Care requirements for room arrangement.
Planning activities :
- Prepare lessons plans that foster a learning environment for indoor and outdoor play.
- Incorporate daily teachings of good morals and character.
- Use developmentally appropriate activities for infants and / or preschool children.
- Prepare webbing for the month.
- Incorporate holidays, special occasions into planned activities.
- Assessments of children.
Interaction with children :
- Supervise the children at all times.
- Ensure the Bible is taught to all children and all have an opportunity to receive Jesus as their Savior.
- Assist cafeteria staff with feeding the children.
- Feed the infants on individual schedule.
- Participate with the children during group activities and individual activities.
- Asking children open ended questions to foster creativity.
- Spend adequate time with each child.
- Regularly change the infants diapers
Communicating with the children, parents and staff :
- Participate in regular parent-teacher meetings.
- Use vocabulary properly as a role model to the children.
- Share daily reports of childcare’s day with family member.
- Participate in staff meetings through mini-teaching of center operations.
Effective guidance of children :
- Use effective role modeling of proper behavior.
- Listen to the children to fully understand what they are expressing.
- Redirect children in an effort to keep them on task and to curtail negative behavior.
- Ask open ended questions to assist the child in expressing themselves.
Keeping the classroom clean and safe for the children :
- Assure the welfare, health and safety of the children through proper supervision.
- Maintain housekeeping in the room : sweeping, mopping, dusting.
- Wash, sanitize, and disinfect high chairs and changing tables after each use.
- Teach the children how to clean up after each activity.
- Teach the children how to properly care for the materials and toys.
- Pick up and remove any materials or toys that may be a hazard.
- Teach children fire and weather safety.
- Teach children how to carry out a safe fire and tornado drill.
Maintain healthy classroom :
- Maintain first aid supplies in their classrooms.
- Wash and sanitize toys that were used by the children daily.
- Wash and sanitize furniture.
- Immediately remove toys from play that are put in a child's mouth.
- Inspect children when they arrive for sickness, infections, fever that may cause a health issue and record appropriately on the daily health check form.
- Teach the children the proper manner to wash their hands.
- Allow the children to wash their hands before and after bathroom use, before and after meals, upon arrival to the center, after outdoor play, after contact with body fluids, and after activities that their hands have been soiled.
- Maintain soapy water, sanitizer and disinfectant in your classroom.
Complete necessary paperwork concerning the children :
- Complete accurate daily attendance.
- Complete accurate daily transition forms
- Prepare regular observations of each child.
- Prepare accurate incident reports.
- Maintain classroom files.
- Complete the point of service meal count according to CACFP program
Other responsibilities :
- Assist in training assistant teachers, volunteers and substitute.
- Complete annual in-service training hours.
- Comply with all policies of JWIN
- Comply with all Div. of Child Development rules and policies.
- Participate in fund raisers for JWIN.
- Fulfill any other duties that the Administrator or Director may assign.
