Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction
- Plan and implement instruction for marching band color guard, as well as varsity and non-varsity winter guard programs, including teaching routines and marching drills
- Plan and implement body strengthening, performance training, and equipment skill-building for students in the color guard program
- Plan and implement recruiting activities at the middle school and high school levels, including supervision of an audition and selection process for color guard student members
- Perform other duties as required by the High School Head Band Director, Campus Principal, or other School Personnel Supervisor
Management
- Assist the High School Head Band Director in administrative duties related to the color guard program including : budgeting, scheduling classes and students, reserving facilities for all rehearsals and performances, arranging transportation, communicating with parent and community members, and hiring supplemental staff or clinicians
- Comply with all UIL, WGI, and TCGC rules and regulations, including contest rules and logistics
- Collaborate with the High School Band staff related to develop marching band show concepts and visual design
- Assist the High School Head Band Director in the maintenance, care, and inventory of color guard equipment and uniforms
Student Supervision
- Participate in all classes, rehearsals, performances, contests, and games, both during and outside of the regular school day, as instructed by the High School Head Band Director
- Supervise color guard students on campus, while traveling, and at performances, contests, games, and other activities
- Assist the High School Head Band Director in the assessment, evaluation, grading, and administrative record-keeping of individual color guard students

- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 48 college hours preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience teaching or performing with color guard equipment
- Ability to inspire students and build enthusiasm for the color guard activity
- Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrates professional appearance and attitude
- Flexible and able to adjust daily routine; ability to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends
- Strong organizational skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills; demonstrates ability to interact appropriately with the public, district staff, and parents
