Kapolei Counseling Center is an approved National Health Service Corps (NHSC) location. The NHSC Loan Repayment Program (NHSC LRP) will provide our mental and behavioral health care clinicians with the opportunity to have their student loans repaid while earning a competitive salary.
This program supports clinicians dedicated to serving in urban, rural, or tribal communities with limited access to care.

Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Licensed Clinical Therapist I to join our team. The primary role of the Therapist I is to deliver comprehensive assessments, treatment planning, psychotherapy, and referrals to a diverse range of clients, all within the scope of practice and training.
Our therapy services include individual, couples, family, and group sessions, catering to clients from young children to the elderly.
Additionally, the Therapist I will support Marriage Workshops within the community. All services must adhere to professional ethics and boundaries as set by the state of Hawaii and relevant therapeutic boards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct client interviews and gather biopsychosocial information.
- Develop treatment plans, administer therapeutic interventions, and apply therapeutic modalities to help clients progress towards their therapeutic goals.
- Review and interpret results of psychological assessments and evaluations from community providers to assess client needs and diagnoses.
- Maintain a clinical caseload, providing therapy either online via a secure HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform or face-to-face at our group practice, while achieving the productivity levels set by the Clinical Director.
- Participate in routine supervision, peer reviews, and case consultations as scheduled by the Clinical Director.
Clinical Supervision
Licensed Clinical Therapists are required to meet with the Clinical Director on a monthly basis to review treatment plans and coordinate patient care.
Therapists independently plan and implement specific treatment interventions, reporting non-responsive cases to the Clinical Director.
Any unethical or illegal issues, or perceived threats to clients or others, must be reported immediately. Treatment records are subject to review at any time.
Preferred Skills
- Strong ability to follow directions from supervisors and comply with private practice directives, state laws, licensing rules and regulations, and certification standards governing mental health and client care.
- Proficiency in maintaining electronic case records in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and other federal and state regulations.
Education and Qualifications
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
- Licensed Ph.D., Psy.D., Psychologist, or other therapeutic doctorate degrees from an accredited institution
- Must hold a valid license to practice in the State of Hawaii
