The Department of Engineering Education (EED) () at The Ohio State University invites applications for one regular tenure-track faculty appointment starting at the associate / full level, in the area of engineering education.
The target hire for this position is Fall 2025, with the option to defer up to 1 year.
Position Overview
We invite applications for a tenured faculty position at the rank of senior Associate Professor / Full Professor. We seek innovative scholars in engineering education who will help further the growth of our department.
Performance Objectives
The Associate or Full Professor will be required to individually establish a research program, secure outside funding, advise graduate students within our engineering education Ph.
D. program, and teach courses across the department, including undergraduate courses. This individual will engage with the department across its focus areas (Multidisciplinary Capstone;
Integrated Business & Engineering; Graduate Studies & Research; Engineering Technical Communications; Fundamentals of Engineering).
Education and Experience Requirements
- Ph.D. or terminal degree in an engineering discipline, computing discipline, engineering education, computing education, education, learning sciences, or equivalent field from an accredited institution of higher education
- Record of innovative and influential education-based research through publications and other outlets
- Past record of securing external funding to support novel research and graduate students
- Experience using evidence-based teaching practices in graduate and undergraduate higher education settings
- Demonstrated commitment to equity and promoting an inclusive and equitable organizational climate
- Demonstrated service that has contributed to engineering education
- Demonstrated commitment and capability to mentor a wide range of undergraduate and / or graduate students from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences
- Demonstrated record of collaboration with internal (same institution) and external collaborators
- Demonstrated efforts in research, teaching, and / or outreach and engagement that reflect Ohio State’s
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required, with a focus on working constructively, decisively, and collegially with both external and internal colleagues and interdisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated expertise in the use of reflective and student-centered pedagogical practice
- Evidence of successful collaboration with others, including but not limited to staff, students, instructors, and / faculty members from different disciplines
- Demonstrated interest in contributing to and collaborating with EED faculty and staff to support and contribute to departmental programs and initiatives
- Demonstrated interest in actively engaging with other engineering and / or computing departments and colleges across The Ohio State University
- Demonstrated commitment and capability to mentor a wide range of faculty from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences
- Experience as an engineering education leader in some official capacity and interest in future leadership opportunities
