Job Overview

This is a union position. Residential Treatment Program for Women and Women with Children. Healing. Opportunities. Parenting.

Education. The team of treatment providers at Women's HOPE includes substance use disorder counselors, parenting counselors, and therapists who provide wrap around services to support and empower our participants as they reach toward their residential program offers specialized care to the undeserved female population of San Francisco, including low-income African American and Latina women and their families / children, with a special focus on pregnant and parenting women experiencing co-occurring substance use and mental health program is gender responsive and trauma informed, addressing substance use, trauma, mental illness, health and wellness, family reunification, parenting education, employability, homelessness, and sober living skills.

Who is Eligible?Pregnant women.Women who have recently given birth.Women with children in their care.Women with children in kinship care.

Women with open Child.Protective Services (CPS) cases.The Mental Health Therapist is responsible for providing safe, supportive, and confidential counseling;

creating and maintaining a trauma-informed program environment at all times. Conducts mental health and substance use disorder assessments and evaluations to identify behaviors and problems related to a client's substance use and potential co-occurring disorders.

Provides individual and family therapy and facilitates group therapy as well as psycho-education groups on a variety of core curriculum.

Acts as a liaison between the agency and outside organizations, linking clients with the appropriate resources to meet their health, mental health and human service needs.

Also they collaborate internally with the treatment team and with outside providers to assist in helping clients in obtaining entitlement benefits, transitional housing, and medical services in the community and participate in discharge planning, particularly mental health services.

In addition they provide crisis management. Therapist provides valuable insight, direction and oversight of Drug Medi-Cal services including documentation and a collaborative care process for clients.

Key Responsibilities

Individual Treatment Responsibilities : Provide Mental Health assessment, treatment, and evaluation along with integrated substance use disorder counseling in weekly individual therapy sessions.

Maintain appropriate / ethical boundaries with all clients and families served. Facilitate timely access to mental health services on site and offsite.

Identify treatment needs, recommend treatment plans based on assessment, and support clients to be able to meet all requirements.

Ensures client is assigned to appropriate level of care and regularly substantiates client's medical necessity for continuing treatment in this level of care.

Monitor client conduct, record client activity, and inform colleagues of relevant client information needed for successful treatment.

Handle crisis interventions and assess situations for further needs.Administration and compliance : Maintain and successfully retain assigned caseload of therapy clients.

Initiate and coordinate curriculum development and facilitate curriculum training as required. Maintain records and document services in a timely manner and in accordance with governing standards and regulations.

Maintain strict confidentiality guidelines regarding all clients, conversations, and referrals.Community Involvement : Maintain accurate knowledge of HR360 programs and services.

Maintain and develop positive working relationships with the general public including community based organizations. Act as a liaison between other programs and referring agencies.

Serves as the point of contact and coordinates referrals and follow-ups with health and human services agencies, particularly mental health linkages.

Treatment Setting Responsibilities : Facilitates psycho-education groups on a variety of core curriculum topics including CBT, Seeking Safety, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing.

Coordinates discharge planning with client's substance use disorder counselor. Provides consultation to staff regarding symptom management, mental health conditions and crisis intervention strategies.

Attends staff and agency meetings. Participates in agency trainings as required. Complies with Board requirements for license or registration renewal.

Self-Care Wellness Plan : In collaboration with supervisor, develop and maintain a self-care wellness plan (strategies to maintain physical, psychological / mental, emotional / relational, and spiritual health) to prevent compassion fatigue.

Documentation Responsibilities : Daily maintenance of monitoring of EMR report to prevent and correct any compliance errors in records.

Conduct assessments, develops treatment plans, and completes release and consent forms, billing and reporting paperwork in hard copy and / or online in various electronic systems.

In addition, completes assigned Drug Medi-Cal, Medicare, and Medi-Cal documentation and billing. Documents individual and group services delivered in various electronic systems in accordance with guilelessness established By HR360 to satisfy internal and external evaluating requires.

Other miscellaneous assignments as assigned. Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Education and Experience Required :

  • Licensed or Board Registered with Board of Behavioral Sciences or Board of Psychology.
  • Minimum two years of experience in a substance abuse treatment or community mental health setting.
  • First Aid certified within 30 days of employment.
  • CPR certified within 30 days of employment.
  • A valid California's Driver's License.

Desired :

  • License with Board of Behavioral Sciences or Board of Psychology.
  • Experience with Drug Medi-Cal operations.
  • Experience working with infants, children, pregnant women and / or mothers.
  • Experience in providing trauma-informed and harm-reduction services.
  • Demonstrated clinical paperwork and record keeping abilities.
