Summary :
Dixie Technical College supports our clients by delivering exceptional training experiences. This is an on-call position for an adjunct instructor who holds a current American Heart Association BLS Instructor certification in good standing.
Potential teaching opportunities include First Aid, CPR / AED (all ages), Pediatric FA, Blood-borne & Airborne Pathogens, and Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification courses.
Applicants should be familiar and experienced with traditional classroom and blended training formats.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Instructors are responsible for providing high quality, superior instruction, completing and returning all required course documentation, and maintaining of high quality, fully functioning training equipment for each class.
- Arrive 30-45 minutes prior to start of class for set-up; advise Dixie Tech staff and / or customer point of contact of any issues that could cause delays
- Represent Dixie Tech CPR to customers, presenting professional appearance and attitude and providing excellent customer service;
course evaluations will be provided to clients following classes.
- Maintain thorough familiarity with treatment protocols and company policy.
- Facilitate all certification courses in accordance with the current AHA guidelines
- Operational flexibility to meet sudden and unpredictable needs
- Additional administrative work and time may be needed.
- Comply with Dixie Tech Policies and Procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications :
- Must possess a valid AHA BLS Instructor Card
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- Must pass background check
- Must be proficient in all basic First Aid / BBP and CPR / AED / BLS skills
- Prefer experience teaching AHA classes
- Ability to communicate course material in a clear and understandable manner
- Must be comfortable teaching in small and large classes settings (with support for larger classes)
- Must meet physical requirements to instruct class, including the ability to lift / carry at least 20 lbs
- Flexible schedule : opportunities available during days, evenings, and weekends
- Basic computer and email skills are desirable
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
- Strong communications and presentation skills
- The employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 25 pounds or less.
The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
