Overview
Summary : This underwriting position specifically works with national payroll agencies and digital partners and is within a quickly growing division of the AmTrust with opportunities for advancement.
Emphasis is placed on providing excellent customer service including quick and timely submission review. Majority of accounts are small to mid-market workers comp submissions domiciled countrywide.
Individual account underwriting is required including hazard analysis, rating, pricing, and form selection. This person also meets with assigned agencies and producers to review progress in business goals and accounts as needed.
This position can be hybrid out of our Scottsdale, AZ, Alpharetta, GA, and Dallas, TX offices.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities :
Underwrite new business insurance policies through solid risk analysis, pricing and servicing. Adheres to corporate underwriting and pricing guidelines.
Operates within written authority grant and makes referrals to management as required.
- Provides professional, timely and courteous communication and service to external clients and cross departmental staff.
- Provides the pertinent information and guidance to support staff required to process coverage requests in accordance with service guidelines
- Understanding and adherence to organizational and regulatory rules, and ability to adhere to underwriting authority
- Provides technical assistance to sales team and customers regarding policy and endorsement provisions and underwriting acceptability for designated insurance coverages.
- Maintain strong industry knowledge on WC underwriting expertise and changes in market / account positions. Develop and maintain full knowledge of all forms, coverages, ratings, and manuals for the specific line being underwritten.
- Knowledge of other insurance products is preferred (BOP, EPL, WC, Package, Cyber).
- Participate in review and evaluation of risk portfolio, making recommendations on book management issues.
- Travel to agency offices for onsite underwriting 15%.
Hybrid WFH / office schedule however in-office time required 3 days per week.

- At least 2+ years’ experience in Finance, Insurance or Payroll
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel
- Bachelor’s degree
Preferred :
- CPCU, ASLI or CIC designation preferred, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
- Background in Workers’ Compensation.
- Multiline underwriting experience preferred.
