Registered Nurse (RN), Rahway, NJ, Medical-Surgical Unit, Full Time, Nights (7P-7A)

Job Overview : A Medical-Surgical RN, or Med / Surg RN, provides direct care to patients dealing with illnesses, injuries or surgery.

Duties include admitting and monitoring patients, administering medications and managing medical equipment.Qualifications : * A graduate from an accredited school of Nursing* Baccalaureate or Associate Degree in NursingRequired : * Current and active NJ RN licensure is required* Strong communication and organizational skills* Proficient computer skillsPreferred : * Med.

Surg., Telemetry and / or ER nursing experience* Med. / Surg, Telemetry, ER and / or national nursing certificationsCertifications and Licenses Required : * Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association upon hire* ACLS Certification within 6 months of the start date* Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License or active Compact Registered Nurse License with New Jersey endorsementScheduling Requirements : * Night Shift, 36 hours per week, 7P-7A* Monday Friday, every other weekend and holiday rotationsEssential Functions : * The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics.

• The Registered Nurse assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of his / her own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others of the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resources and programs available.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors / walls / ceiling tiles / unsecured areas) and medical errors.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served.* The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.
• The Registered Nurse is an individual practitioner and the interdisciplinary team manager, who utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient s needs.
