Essential Functions :
Input or retrieve attendance data into or from a student information system.
Generate attendance reports for school staff and administrators.
Reconcile and adjust attendance data following standard protocols and applicable laws and regulations.
Prepare forms, attendance summaries, truancy reports and other documents.
Communicate with parents or guardians to report or verify excused or unexcused absences.
Operate a computer and use various software applications to enter and retrieve student information.
Explain or interpret applicable laws, regulations or protocols to parents, guardians and staff.
Maintain confidentiality of student information.
Monitor attendance and identify habitual truants.
Maintain punctual and consistent attendance.
Other Functions :
Operate a variety of contemporary office equipment.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands :
Inside work with no exposure to weather conditions.
Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone; seeing to read a variety of documents; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office equipment;
sitting for extended periods of time; reaching overhead to store or retrieve materials.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Basic knowledge of public education laws, codes, rules and procedures as they apply to student attendance and enrollment.
Knowledge of student information systems such as Aeries, Illuminate, Data Director, etc.
Ability to use correct English language usage, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with students, parents and staff.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to collaborate with others on assigned projects or initiatives.
Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide quickly and with accuracy.
Education, Training and Experience :
Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and two (2) years of increasingly responsible clerical experience, including one (1) year of experience collecting, maintaining and reporting student attendance.
Additional Requirements :
Successful passage of a written or performance assessment.
