About The Position
Job Title : Registered Nurse - Telemetry Job Specialty : Surgical Job Duration : 26 weeks Shift : 7P-7A, 12-hour night shifts Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week Experience : Minimum of 2 years in Medical / Telemetry License : Registered Nurse (RN) Certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS), Basic EKG Certification Must-Have : - General post-surgical experience - Telemetry experience with cardiac rhythm interpretation - Comfortability with a variety of post-operative care and procedures Job Description : - Care for surgical patients with various needs including bariatrics, vascular surgeries, urology, general / GI, ortho, ENT, plastics, and neurosurgery.
- Provide support for medical overflow cases like CHF, pneumonia, COVID, COPD, sepsis, cellulitis, GI bleed, etc.- Offer patient care with remote telemetry monitoring capabilities.
- Manage patient ratios of 1 : 5-6 during night shifts.- Utilize resources such as free-floating charge nurses and resource nurses (during the day).
- Deliver care following order sets (post-op vital signs and frequency), and perform glucose checks.- Assist with patient mobility using assistive devices.
- Conduct ambulation of post-op patients and manage I / O documentation in mL.- Perform tasks including peripheral IV starts, tube feedings, TPN, tracheostomy care, chest tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, drain management, and dressing changes.
- Discontinue non-tunneled catheters and manage weaning patients off epidural pumps and PCAs.- Handle heparin and insulin drips.
Other Information : - Work environment utilizes Cerner EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing.- Flexibility with weekend rotations and potential floating to other units as needed.
Orientation includes 2 days of hospital introduction along with a one 12-hour shift on the unit. - Maintain a professional appearance with appropriate scrub attire.
Avoid using cell phones or ear pods in patient care areas.
