Research Faculty - IM Immunology and Rheumatology - (Open Rank/Track Faculty)

Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure.

Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty member's tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus;

obligations will include research, service and / or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience.

The Division of Rheumatology and Immunology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine seeks a highly motivated scientist who focuses their research on the study of rheumatic autoimmune diseases to expand the current research program.

This position is supported by an endowed professorship. The rank is open and will depend on the candidate's research accomplishments.

The successful applicant must have MD or PhD or MD / PhD or their equivalent. Candidates should have a strong track record, depending on their academic rank, of high-level publications and ongoing robust peer-reviewed research funding.

Duties and Responsibilities :

The duties for this position include writing and publishing research in high quality peer-reviewed scientific journals; attending and making presentations of research at national and international scientific conferences;

and developing a national and international scholarly reputation. In addition to instructing and mentoring junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, and residents and fellow trainees, this position participates in department, college, and university committees and initiatives.

The position also conceptualizes, plans, designs, implements, and conducts research studies in the area of rheumatic autoimmune diseases;

develops and writes grant proposals to maintain funding to support the research program; and obtains and maintains NIH R01 or equivalent funding.

Requirements :

  • Doctoral degree in Immunology or related field (MD or PhD or MD / PhD or their equivalent).
  • A strong track record of high-level publications.
  • A strong track record of ongoing robust peer-reviewed research funding NIH R01 or equivalent funding.

The division has several highly specialized multi-disciplinary clinics focused on a variety of autoimmune diseases as well as a research program that is focused on immune regulation and the microbiome.

Particular emphasis is placed on disease mechanisms in systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, and myositis.

Our research is funded by grants from the National Institutes of Health, from foundations, and from grateful patients.
