The Project Manager for the Maternity Care program will help implement a state grant focusing on improving maternal health outcomes of Worcester Refugee and Immigrant communities through community engagement, doula workforce development, multi-partner collaboration, and education.

The program manager would have an opportunity to develop evidence-based interventions, engage community partners, supervise a multi-cultural / multi-lingual team of community health workers, organize and implement doula trainings, and build a collaborative environment among Worcester maternity care healthcare providers.

The role would require a combination of project management, leadership, stakeholder engagement, and technical expertise in both healthcare and grant management.

Responsibilities

A Program Manager overseeing the implementation of a grant focused on refugee and immigrant maternity care would have a variety of responsibilities to ensure the program's success.

Here’s a breakdown of key responsibilities :

  • Program Planning and Development
  • Grant Compliance : Ensure that all program activities are aligned with the objectives and requirements of the grant.
  • Project Planning : Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and deliverables for the maternity care program.
  • Stakeholder Engagement : Collaborate with healthcare providers, community organizations, community leaders, and other stakeholders to design culturally appropriate interventions to improve maternal health outcomes in Worcester, MA.
  • Program Implementation
  • Service Delivery : Oversee the delivery of maternity care services to refugee and immigrant populations, ensuring accessibility and cultural sensitivity.
  • Workforce Development : Identify leaders in the refugee and immigrant community passionate about becoming doulas, coordinate and support their training.
  • Team Coordination : Manage a multidisciplinary team, including healthcare professionals, social workers, and community health workers.
  • Community Education and Training : Lead the team in development of education and training materials for community leaders and stakeholders specifically focused on hypertensive diseases of pregnancy and mental health.
  • Resource Allocation : Ensure efficient use of resources, including budget management, procurement of supplies, and allocation of personnel.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Data Collection and Analysis : Establish systems for tracking program outcomes, patient satisfaction, and overall program effectiveness.
  • Reporting : Prepare and submit regular progress reports to grantors and stakeholders, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.
  • Continuous Improvement : Use data-driven insights to refine and improve program services and approaches.
  • Community Outreach and Education
  • Cultural Competency Training : Provide or coordinate training for staff on cultural competence and trauma-informed care specific to refugee and immigrant populations.
  • Public Awareness : Develop and implement outreach strategies to raise awareness about the maternity care program within the refugee and immigrant communities.
  • Partnership Development : Establish partnerships with local community organizations, religious institutions, and other relevant groups to support outreach efforts.
  • Advocacy and Policy Engagement
  • Policy Advocacy : Advocate for policies that support the health and well-being of refugee and immigrant mothers and families.
  • Grant Sustainability : Explore opportunities for additional funding and sustainability, including writing proposals for continued or expanded support.
  • Financial Management (in collaboration with the Executive Director)
  • Budget Oversight : Manage the program’s budget, ensuring that expenditures align with grant requirements and program needs.
  • Financial Reporting : Prepare and submit financial reports as required by the grant.
  • Collaboration and Networking
  • Inter-agency Collaboration : Work closely with other programs and agencies to ensure a comprehensive approach to maternal health for refugees and immigrants.
  • Network Development : Build and maintain a network of resources and contacts that can support the program’s goals.
  • Organize multi-agency meetings and bi-annual conferences to enhance collaboration.
  • Leadership and Team Management
  • Team Leadership : Provide leadership and direction to program staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive working environment.
  • Professional Development : Support the ongoing professional development of team members to enhance program effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Social Work, Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is required.
  • Master’s Degree in Public Health, Healthcare Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in program management, preferably in healthcare, public health, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in project management, including the ability to plan, implement, and evaluate programs effectively.
  • Prior work experience with refugee and immigrant communities is highly desirable, particularly in the context of healthcare or social services.
  • Grant Management Experience : Proven experience in managing and implementing grant-funded programs, including compliance, reporting, and budget management.
  • Experience in maternal and child health, particularly in culturally diverse settings, is highly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of the cultural and social factors affecting refugee and immigrant populations, particularly in relation to maternity care.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including healthcare providers, community organizations, and patients.
  • Ability to advocate for the needs of refugee and immigrant populations within the healthcare system and with policymakers.
  • Competence in budget management, financial reporting, and resource allocation.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of partners and stakeholders, including community organizations, healthcare providers, and government agencies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with project management software.
  • Data Management : Experience with data collection and analysis tools, particularly in healthcare settings, is preferred.
  • Language Skills : Proficiency in additional languages commonly spoken by refugee and immigrant communities (e.g., Arabic, Spanish, French, Somali) is a strong asset.
  • Flexibility : Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, to meet the needs of the community.

Compensation : $70,000+ DOE
