Job Summary :
Prospect Hill Academy Charter School is seeking a passionate and dedicated FullTime Special Education Teacher to join our dynamic team.
The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for providing specialized instruction to students with diverse learning needs collaborating with colleagues and ensuring the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Responsibilities :
Curriculum Development :
- Develop and implement specialized instructional plans based on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to meet the unique needs of students.
- Modify and adapt curriculum materials to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
Instruction :
- Provide direct instruction in academic subjects and socialemotional skills adjusting teaching methods to accommodate individual learning needs.
- Differentiate instruction to address a range of student abilities and learning styles.
Assessment and Progress Monitoring :
- Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Collaborate with the assessment team to develop and implement appropriate assessments.
Collaboration :
- Collaborate with general education teachers related service providers and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment.
- Attend and actively participate in team meetings and professional development sessions.
IEP Implementation :
- Ensure the effective implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Collaborate with the IEP team and communicate with parents / guardians regarding student progress.
Behavioral Support :
- Implement behavior management strategies to support positive student behavior.
- Collaborate with colleagues to create a positive and supportive behavior management system.
Professional Development :
- Stay informed about best practices in special education through ongoing professional development.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share effective instructional strategies.
Qualifications :
- Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) certification in Special Education.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Previous experience working with students with diverse learning needs.
- Strong understanding of special education laws regulations and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
