The RN Registered Nurse Supervisor is responsible for supervising the day-to-day nursing activities performed by all nursing personnel in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards governing the facility.
He / she will ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times and will provide direct nursing care as needed.
The RN Registered Nurse Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the activities of all Departments if the respective Department Head is not on premises.
He / she will be responsible for the facility and its management when the Administrator, Director of Nursing, or Assistant Director of Nursing is not present.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor :
Assesses patients by physical examination including diagnostic testing to determine health status.
Administer medication and treatments
Participates in care planning and oversees the implementation of the plan
Communicate with physicians regarding changes in condition
Documents assessments and care
Educates patients and families
Supervises nursing department staff
RN REGISTERED NURSE SUPERVISOR QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a Registered Nurse in good standing and currently licensed by the State of Pennsylvania
- Previous experience in a supervisory capacity
- Must be able to supervise and instruct others
- Must have a positive attitude towards the elderly
- Ability to communicate with residents, families, physicians, consultants, and the public
- Ability to communicate with, understand, and instruct personnel
- Must be able to distinguish smells, tastes, and temperatures
- Must understand and act upon complex issues and problems and must communicate and interact effectively with a variety of people
- Effective communication, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills required
- Effective leadership and management skills required
- Must speak and understand English
