Overview : As a Marketing Intern for the Davenport University Campus Store, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of marketing while contributing to the success of our store's promotional efforts.
This internship offers a dynamic environment where you will collaborate with a team of professionals, learn valuable skills, and make meaningful contributions to the growth and visibility of the campus store.
Key Responsibilities :
Marketing :
- Assist in creating engaging and relevant content for the campus store's social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok.
- Generate creative ideas for posts, stories, and campaigns to increase brand awareness and drive student engagement.
- Schedule and publish content according to the content calendar, ensuring consistent messaging and branding.
- Respond to comments, messages, and inquiries from followers in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist in the planning, execution, and evaluation of marketing campaigns aimed at promoting merchandise, events, and special promotions.
- Conduct market research to identify target audiences, trends, and competitor strategies.
- Monitor campaign performance metrics and analyze data to optimize future marketing initiatives.
- Support the team in promoting campus store events, sales, and initiatives both online and offline.
- Assist with event planning and coordination, including logistics, promotion, and on-site support as needed.
- Capture photos and videos during events to create engaging content for social media and other marketing channels.
- Work closely with other departments within the campus store, including merchandising, sales, and customer service, to support integrated marketing efforts.
- Collaborate with student organizations, campus clubs, and academic departments to explore partnership opportunities and cross-promotion.
- Update and maintain the campus store website with accurate product information, pricing, and promotions.
- Conduct regular audits of the website to identify and fix any issues related to usability, functionality, or performance.
Retail Operations :
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting and assisting customers, answering questions, and resolving any issues or concerns.
- Assist in maintaining inventory levels by restocking shelves, organizing merchandise displays, and conducting regular inventory counts.
- Process transactions using the point-of-sale (POS) system and ensure accuracy in pricing and product information.
- Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the store, including keeping shelves, displays, and checkout areas neat and tidy.
- Assist with receiving and processing shipments of merchandise, including unpacking boxes, checking in inventory, and updating records.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure a smooth and efficient store operation, including opening and closing procedures.
Qualifications :
- High School graduate or GED, Associates / Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate ideas and information to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in social media platforms and digital marketing tools, with a creative mindset and attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of retail operations and customer service principles, with a willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, with a positive attitude and a willingness to take initiative.
- Understand and abide by all external and internal regulations and policies. This includes NCAA, GLIAC and national affiliations associated within athletics or other role specific regulations.
