Job Title : X-Ray Technologist
Location : North Dakota, US
Job Summary :
The X-Ray Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic radiographic procedures to produce high-quality images for the interpretation by radiologists.
The technologist works closely with patients to ensure comfort and safety while adhering to established protocols and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities :
- Perform X-ray procedures following physician orders and departmental protocols.
- Ensure proper patient positioning to capture clear, diagnostic-quality images while adhering to radiation safety practices.
- Review and verify patient clinical information and prescription prior to performing the procedure.
- Collaborate with the radiology team and communicate effectively with radiologists and referring physicians.
- Monitor the patient’s condition during imaging procedures and provide instructions to ensure cooperation.
- Maintain and operate radiographic equipment, ensuring equipment functionality and reporting any malfunctions.
- Adhere to hospital policies, including radiation protection and infection control standards.
- Input and retrieve patient data using the hospital’s electronic medical records (EMR) system (e.g., EPIC or PACS).
- Follow safety protocols when administering contrast material, if required, and monitor the patient for any adverse reactions.
- Provide assistance to radiologists during special procedures or interventional exams.
- Assist in patient transfers and mobility, ensuring their safety during the procedure.
- Perform daily quality control checks on imaging equipment and maintain cleanliness in the work area.
- Participate in on-call or overtime duties as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications :
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an X-Ray Technologist.
- Proficient in operating X-ray equipment and radiology software (e.g., PACS, EPIC).
- Strong understanding of anatomy, radiographic techniques, and radiation safety protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and medical staff.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
Education & Certifications :
- Required :
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) Certification.
- State Radiography License (specific to North Dakota or ability to obtain).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or equivalent.
- Preferred :
- Experience in digital radiography and PACS systems.
- Additional certifications or training in advanced radiographic techniques.
Physical Requirements :
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
- Ability to push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Frequent bending, stooping, and lifting of patients as necessary.
Work Environment :
- The X-Ray Technologist works in a hospital, clinic, or imaging center setting.
- Shift schedules may vary, including weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments based on department needs.
