Requirements
- Minimum Education : Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Management, or related field, or equivalent minimum experience requirements.
- Preferred Education : Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
- Minimum Experience : Five years of nursing management experience in a hospital setting with three years of supervisory experience.
- Required Certifications / Licensure : Current Arizona Registered Nurse License.
- Required Training for Wound Care : Training in wound care and hyperbaric therapy from a nationally recognized provider.
- Preferred Certifications / Registration for Wound Care : Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing (WOCN) certification.
Position Summary
The Director of Surgical Services serves as the department administrator, responsible for establishing and enforcing policies, procedures, standards, and objectives.
This role involves directing and supervising staff and workflow, with 24-hour accountability for the effective operation of the assigned Nursing department.
The director supports the hospital’s mission, vision, goals, and objectives, focusing on patients, physicians, employees, volunteers, and the community as customers.
The position entails continuous assessment, improvement, coordination, and integration of department services and standards of care into the hospital’s primary function.
Responsibilities include approving timekeeping, employee evaluations, meeting regulatory standards, approving supply orders, and strategic department planning.
