- Education
- Must also have thorough knowledge of lifesaving and first aid techniques. An additional certification required in the Swim University Curriculum that must be obtained within 2 months of hire.
CPR / AED certification required.
- Experience
- The communication skills necessary to clearly present information and supervision to members and guests. Ability to swim during strenuous rescue situations.
The ability to read English and follow instructions and procedures. The ability to interact in a customer friendly manner with SBHWI staff and members and guests.
- Physical

- Requires moderate to heavy physical effort. Requires continuous standing and walking. At times could require frequent lifting or moving of average weight material (30-45 lbs.
and occasionally lifting or moving heavy weight material (in excess of 45 lbs.) in difficult work positions. Flow of work and character of duties involves above normal mental and visual attention much or all of the time.
There is frequent risk of exposure to pool cleaning chemicals. Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
- JOB SUMMARY
- Reporting to the Aquatics Coordinator, the Swim instructor is responsible for the safety and enjoyment of members and guests utilizing the Aquatics Center of St.
Bernards Health & Wellness (SBH&W). Ensures that Aquatics Center rules and policies are adhered to, and applies rescue procedures and resuscitation techniques as prescribed by the American Red Cross.
Responsible for contacting, maintaining & reporting to the Aquatics Coordinator all private swim lessons. Requires routine pool maintenance which includes but is not limited to;
checking chlorine level, pH balance, chemical adjustments, power washing decks, vacuum pools and various tasks to ensure a clean, enjoyable experience for members and guests.
