The anticipated salary range for this role is between $158,000.00and $198,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire.
The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.
Role Description
The Domain Data Steward - Products / Transactions assists the Enterprise Transaction Data Executive in implementing the Organization's Data Strategy across the Americas Division Financial Transaction Domain.
This role will require being a champion of change in step with the organizations Data Transformation initiative. This includes working with the business to ensure alignment with the Data Governance and Data Management Strategy.
Role Objectives
- This role is part of a team established by the Enterprise Data Governance Program.
- Day-to-day responsibilities include developing data definitions, measurements, and exception handling.
- Escalates complex or critical issues to the next level of authority.
- Persuade and influence stakeholders to support new ideas.
- Show awareness of linkage of Data Strategy to the overall SMBC Americas Division Strategy.
- Demonstrates the ability to affect change within their department and withtheir direct and indirect stakeholders. Reports to the Enterprise Transaction Domain Data Executive.
- Coordinates with the business to resolve data quality issues when the issue is due to business process issues, regulatory, internal audit and management self-identified issues.
- Works with our technology partners to implement the technology necessary to support the data governance program.
- Promote the use of accepted data definitions, common reference data and sound data usage practices.
- Create and maintain business metadata definitions, domain values, business rules, etc.
- Provide accountability for domain data, ensuring timely and consistent collection of data.
- Provide data understanding and usage expertise to projects (development and enhancement).
Qualifications and Skills
- 5-7 Years of specialized experience as a data practitioner in Banking or Financial Services.
- Strong communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.
- Project management expertise and knowledge of project management methodology / SDLC / Agile etc., processes in IT or financial services environments.
- Strong ability to communicate information, business process and system wide changes to a technical and nontechnical audience.
Ability to analyze workflows and develop improvements based on research, interviews, and subject matter expertise.
- Ability to influence people outside the immediate span of control, negotiate and resolve conflicts, and work with business users, IT partners and vendors.
- Extensive knowledge of the banking systems (Loans, Leases, Deposits, FOREX, Derivatives, Securities, etc.) and methodologies for achieving AML compliance.
