Role Overview

As a candidate for this role, you are able to seamlessly switch from executive-level risk conversations to diving deep into controls and technology to driving high-level strategic discussions around roadmaps and security solutions.

What will you be doing at a high level?

You will be assisting with active projects, working on discovery and network mapping, responding to incidents, documenting and implementing changes with other internal / external teams, conducting research for future projects, participating in planning and remediation sessions, investigating suspicious or anomalous activities, reviewing adherence to compliance and baselines, streamlining and automating repetitive routines, identifying process enhancements, conducting assessments of our current controls and systems, providing guidance on secure system design, enabling audit reviews, working with 3rd party vendors, general documentation, and training junior employees.

Education, Training and Previous Experience

Candidates will be evaluated primarily upon their ability to demonstrate the competencies required to be successful in the role, as described above.

For reference, the typical work experience and educational background of candidates in this role are as follows :

  • BS or MA in computer science, cybersecurity or a related field
  • 2-5 years of IT experience (Systems / Server / Network Admin)
  • 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity

Technical and Business Experience

  • Strong experience with SIEM, EDR, Email Security tools, Firewall, Azure Cloud, AWS, Vulnerability tools, Pen test tools, PAM, SAST / DAST, Powershell, and other scripting tools.
  • Strong network security abilities and being able to decipher traffic within a pcap. IAM, Zero Trust, Knowledge of devsecops or application security would be great as well.
  • NIST CSF, CIS or other frameworks and standards, IAM, Zero trust, Security Operations, Software Dev Security, Compliance, Risk Assessment, Security architecture.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating environments
  • Knowledge of Active Directory and Windows permissions
  • Knowledge of common vulnerabilities and exploitation techniques
  • Familiarity with scripting in PowerShell and / or Python (is a plus)
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms like Azure, GCP, and AWS (is a plus)
  • Knowledge of VMWare Hypervisor operating environments (is a plus)
  • Knowledge of Palo Alto, Cisco, Aruba (is a plus)
  • Familiarity with Linux (is a plus)
  • Understanding of process automation (is a plus)
