JOB SUMMARY :
Under the supervision of the Health, Wellness, & Program Director, the Youth Sports Instructor will represent the Old Colony Y in a positive professional manner, resulting in friendly, convenient and courteous service.
The Youth Sports Instructor will be responsible for teaching classes as assigned. He / She is also responsible for the safety and well-being of all class participants.
JOB FUNCTION
1. Program / Department Responsibilities
Instruction of assigned classes, teaching proper techniques and form of appropriate skills
To have necessary sports skills and experience for teaching the schedule class, gym and outdoor areas
To keep accurate attendance records and class records
To evaluate students ability / level for proper placement
To explain progress and procedures to parents
To prepare gym / outdoor areas with necessary equipment / supplies
To prepare lessons plans and have an overall goal for the designated program
To maintain order and safety in class
Ability to supervise groups of children with control and enthusiasm
Attend scheduled meetings with Program Director in preparation for upcoming sports sessions
Work with and provide leadership for parent volunteers

4. Facility / Housekeeping Responsibility
To clean area after class, reporting any damaged or broken equipment and report to supervisor immediately
5. Interdivisional / Community / Volunteer Responsibility
Provide friendly, courteous service to all members, clients and volunteers of the Y
Contribute to a positive work environment by illustrating pride in job, Enthusiasm and cooperation with co-workers
Requirements
Must know rules and regulations of the sport involved
Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
Professional appearance & demeanor at all times
Initiative to create new programs, projects, & / or procedures
Punctual, prepared & responsible
Keeps up with industry changes, willing to increase knowledge in field
Ability to highlight, promote, and participate in other programs offered at the branch
