MUST HAVE UTILITY OR GAS FIELD EXPERIENCE
HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES :
Perform daily preventative maintenance such as track cleaning, inspection for damage, and fluid check
Adhere to all prescribed safety practices and procedures
Interpret signals, stakes, and markings to respect plan specifications, safe use of shoring systems, the ability to regrade stakes.
Utilize pedals and levers to control the speed and direction of the machine
Utilize pedals or levers to control height / depth and angle / pitch of bucket
Install / change attachments using levers and hand tools
May be required to perform other labor / operator related tasks (based on experience, abilities, knowledge of incumbent, and direction of Foreman) as necessary in assisting crew with job completion
HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR COMPETENCIES & REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of controls, methods, and techniques for operating heavy equipment
Ability to interpret grade stakes
Applicable dexterity, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination
Completion of Trenching and Confined Space safety course
Competent Persons Certification and Heavy Equipment Training
HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Two years excavating, utility, or other applicable experience operating heavy equipment
HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR PHYSICAL DEMANDS / REQUIREMENTS
The following physical demands are representative to perform the essential functions of this job successfully :
Must be physically able to operate various machines, tools, and equipment, including a motor vehicle, edger, chain saw, carpentry tools, mechanic tools, lawn tools, etc.
Must be able to work, move or carry objects / materials.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds of force frequently.
Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for weighty work.
Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards.
