Crozer Health comprises four hospitals and a network of outpatient centers. These facilities house a Level 2 trauma center, a regional burn center, three regional cancer centers, a kidney transplant center, Bariatric Surgery Program, First Steps Rehab, and Global Neuroscience Institute unit.
The MA supports patients, providers and the Practice Manager in care delivery, pre-visit, visit and post-visit including but not limited to the following :
Prepare charts for patient visit, scans and files documents as required into EMR : test results, faxes, notes, referrals, etc.
and / or ensures imagining, and other reports are uploaded if needed into EMR prior to the visit date.
Greets patients in a friendly, professional and respectful manner. Escorts patient to examination room; assists patient after exam;
directs patient to lab or reception area using established customer-service standards.
The MA is responsible for communicating with the clinical team and office staff and coordinating the efficient flow of patients and families from the waiting room to vitals area, exam rooms and other ancillary tests.
Effectively notifying physicians, nurses and clinical staff in a timely fashion when patient is ready to be seen.
- Obtains patient vital signs and documents in the EMR, as requested. Documents required information into the patient chart under the direction of the provider.
- Ensures correct patient chart is prepared for provider, including proper heading of progress notes, documentation of patient vitals and chief complaint.
Ensures all prior test results or studies are filed.
- Assists providers as required with examinations and procedures.
- Monitor’s patient’s condition, as directed by physician, during medical / surgical procedures. Immediately reports any change to physician.
- Assists physicians in accordance with Pennsylvania guidelines, with routine prescription refills to the pharmacy as appropriate.
- Addresses patient questions and concerns within the practice guidelines.
- Administers medication under the supervision of a clinical provider.
- At the director of provider, performs venipuncture, collects specimens and sends out labs for analysis, if needed.
- Completes lab and testing requisitions, labels and prepares specimens for processing. Electronically maintains lab data.
Documents patient chart.
Prepares, processes and distributes lab results. Ensures results are received and reviewed by provider and filed in patient chart.
Maintains all necessary log information.
- Notifies patients of all test results as instructed by provider.
- Follows up on Dashboard Care Gaps, as assigned.
- Follows up post-visit per developed standards.
Requirements :
Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program required.
High School Diploma or equivalency required.
Medical Assistant certification / registration preferred.
Current CPR certification preferred.
