JOB SUMMARY :
The Host or Hostess provides friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional dining experience for all our guests, by welcoming and warmly greeting guests on arrival.
This role manages the efficient and timely seating of our guests to a table that best serves their wishes. This individual must be available to work weekends, nights and holidays.
ESSENTIAL / PRIMARY DUTIES :
- Greets all guests and seats them at tables or in waiting areas
- Opens the front door for guests entering or leaving the restaurant when possible
- Provides guests with menus and inform them of their server’s name upon seating
- Records guest names and the number of people in party and provide guests with estimated waiting time when immediate seating is limited
- Assigns guests to tables suitable for their needs and according to rotation so that servers receive an appropriate number of seating’s
- Calls out names and numbers of parties when tables become available
- Speaks with guests to ensure satisfaction with food and service, to respond to complaints, or to make conversation
- Answers telephone calls and responds to inquiries or transfer calls
- Maintains contact with kitchen staff, management, serving staff, and guests to ensure that dining details are handled properly, and customers' concerns are addressed
- Inspects dining and serving areas to ensure cleanliness and proper setup
- Informs guests of establishment specialties and features
- Receives and records guests' dining reservations
- Inspects restrooms for cleanliness and availability of supplies and clean restrooms when necessary
- Directs guests to coatrooms and waiting areas
- Relays messages to servers and bussers as needed
- Thanks guests as they leave and invites them to return
- Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offers suggestions for improvement
- Coordinates with and assist fellow employees to meet guests’ needs and support the operation of the restaurant
SECONDARY DUTIES :
- Takes and prepares to-go orders
- Operates cash registers to accept payments for food and beverages
- Supervises and coordinates activities of dining room staff to ensure that patrons receive prompt and courteous service
- Orders or requests supplies and equipment for tables and serving stations
- Assists with preparing and serving food and beverages
- Cleans and sanitizes guest touch points in the restaurant
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :
High School Diploma and previous restaurant experiences or equivalent combination of education and experience

- Effectively demonstrates genuine hospitality for setting the stage for an exceptional dining experience by making every guest feel welcome in all areas of the restaurant.
- Excellent conversationalist with a pleasant and professional personality
- Strong attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
- Excellent listening and oral communication skills
- Basic computer skills
- Working Knowledge about all equipment associated with location
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
