Position : Full-Time Maintenance / Ancillary Crew Chief Stagehand (Local One)
Department : Performance and Campus Operations
Role Overview : Full-Time Maintenance / Ancillary Crew Chief Stagehand for David Geffen Hall, performing electrical maintenance and leading crews in assigned spaces.
This is a union-represented position and employees are required to join IATSE Local One.
Performance and Campus Operations department members work together across disciplines to successfully execute events and performances that encompass nearly every artistic form and genre.
This includes everything from free educational and community-based programming to large-scale, multi-day, corporate activations of Lincoln Center’s venues.
The team also serves the Lincoln Center constituent organizations and helps bring their work to life on stage and around the campus.
What you’ll get to do here :
- Perform electrical maintenance work in all spaces in David Geffen Hall, excluding the auditorium and the stage.
- May provide support for events in the Sidewalk Studio, Patron Lounge and Donor Lounge.
- Interface with building engineers and outside vendors.
- Regularly meet with the Production team to plan logistics, staffing requirements, and schedule.
Qualifications :
- Highly proficient with building electrical systems, architectural lighting controls, architectural and theatrical lighting.
- Understand electrical code and best practices; ability to read electrical plans.
- Experience working with audio, video, networking / IT, backline, and staging.
- 5 + years of relevant experience.
- Recent, successful experience leading multi-disciplinary crews on events.
- Demonstrable ability to communicate clearly and consistently with management, supervisors and colleagues both verbally and in writing.
Additional Requirements :
- Position uses ladders and mechanical lifts.
- Use of a variety of electrical, battery-operated and manual hand tools.
- Able to climb stairs, traverse elevated catwalks, walkways, and on a variety of surfaces including wood, stone, steel and concrete.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds routinely.
- Work in closely confined spaces low to the ground.
- Frequent bending, twisting, and extending of arms above the head to perform work and support weight.
